Stew - His career started with Fred Astaire dance studios fresh out of hight school where A dynamic and exciting competitor and highly sought after as a coach and consultant. Stew has traveled from coast to coast as a successful dancesport professional winning several Rising Star titles in American Rhythm, coaching and choreographing for students and professionals alike, Few have the passion for both the world of social dancing and highly refined dance as Stew. He just as happy in a salsa club as he is coaching competitors. Now he performs, choreographs for film and stage in the following styles - American Rhythm, Smooth, West Coast Swing and Salsa . Jonathan Atkinson is a longtime member of the dance community, specializing in both American and International style ballroom. He has been dancing since he was 20 years old, having started as a student at an Arthur Murray studio in Beverly Hills.
In 1994, Jonathan began competing in American smooth, climbing up the professional ranks with his wife Melissa over the next 10 years to acquire the titles of 2nd Place U.S. Rising Star Smooth Finalist, Open Professional Smooth Semi-Finalist, and 9-Dance Finalist.
Lorena Bravo was first introduced to the world of competitive ballroom dancing while in her freshman year at the University of Southern California. Oh a whim, she decided to take a lesson with the USC Ballroom and Latin Dance team only to find herself completely enamored with every aspect of ballroom dancing.
During her time as an amateur, Lorena competed in the International Latin and American Smooth categories. In 2007, with her last partner, Evan Yeh, she became a U.S. National Amateur finalist in American Rhythm and 9 Dance.
In October 2004, Lorena began dancing Pro/Am American Smooth with Jonathan. By 2007 they had won the U.S. Pro-Am American Smooth Championship. She turned pro the following year, and the two continued dancing together as a professional couple. Jonathan and Lorena are known for their warm, sincere, emotional style of dancing, and for their freakish ability to get along every day in practice, never having argued once in their 5 years of dancing together.
Meagen Mendoza began her training studying ballet at Rozann-Zimmerman Ballet Center under the direction of Patrick Frantz, Paris Opera Ballet and Patricia Davis, American Ballet Theatre. She began performing at the young age of 5. Highly trained in many styles of dance such as jazz, modern, hip hop, and folklore, Meagen was later introduced to the world of Ballroom. Meagen has been featured in "DANCE BEAT" Magazine several times for her success in Dancesport Competitions and competes with her partner, Pavel Balykin in Professional Latin.
Ms. Mendoza has also performed in many prestigious venues such as the Japan American Theatre, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Kodak Theatre, Ford Amphitheatre, El Capitan Theater, and has toured North America with the Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival. She recently finished dancing with Disney as Jasmine and Mulan in their Live Stage Show for their premiere of Tangled.
Meagen has embraced teaching as another outlet in which she shares her love of dance and the competitive experience.
Pavel was born in Russia in 1988. At the age of 10 while living in Baikonur Kazakhstan he started Ballet and Break dancing. One year later he discovered ballroom and immediately changed his training to focus on ballroom dancing. For another year he participated in various shows around his home town of Baikonur and then moved to Russia. Pavel has trained with various teachers including Aleksandr Melnikov, Egor Vishegorodcev, Ilya Danilov and Geir Buck. He became a serious student and won numerous competitions over the next couple of years.
In 2005, Pavel boldly moved to the United States. Since then he has continued competing and had victories in competitions such as California Open, The Emerald Ball, International Grand Ball, Holliday Dance Classic, and many more.
In January 2011, Pavel started dancing with Meagen Mendoza with whom he is currently training and competing.
Sasha and Igor bring to the floor not just talent but true personality and passion. They are competing Professionals and coaches. They have been see preforming all over the world as well as many of LA's hot spots like the Conga room. They are available for coaching for beginners to Rising Stars.
